Enhanced Information Solutions (EIS) Inc. today released the results of a study that analyzes the realized business benefits of an equipment logbook mobile solution for a major biotech company. This solution, as one module in OpsTrakker, went live in production in early 2015 to provide equipment use log functionality for over 20 equipment classes and replace dozens of paper forms. In its first year, OpsTrakker has yielded measurable business results by significantly increasing major Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in manufacturing and quality departments, including:
- Improved the Right First Time (RFT) rate by reducing execution errors, omissions and discrepancy investigation associated with paper-based forms;
- Achieved a 94% “Review by Exception” rate, significantly reducing post-execution review and freeing up the quality department to focus on product quality vs. paper quality;
- Improved operation efficiency by reducing execution cycle time and increasing the number of logbook activities executed per month.
“We are excited about the tangible business benefits that OpsTrakker brings to the customer”, said Rajeev Joshi, EIS’s Vice President of Products. “This success story continues to prove that OpsTrakker can provide high value manufacturing functionality in a cost effective manner to pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Plus, the fact that OpsTrakker was rolled-out to production without a major interruption in plant operations shows the value of our phased and adaptive implementation approach.”
Built upon SAP Mobile Platform (SMP) and other Web and mobile technologies such as HTML5, OpsTrakker integrates with SAP and also runs as an independent app on iPad, Android and Windows mobile and desktop devices. It provides manufacturing operations management and execution functionality, including equipment logbook and management, as well as e-forms, tank management, and multi-level reporting abilities. Being a lightweight and agile solution, OpsTrakker can be implemented in short project cycles to quickly realize business benefits and achieve projected ROI. OpsTrakker has been developed with mobility and cross-platform support as a priority rather than an afterthought. The OpsTrakker app continues to provide innovative solutions for the manufacturing community and has earned industry recognition, being named winner of the ‘Manufacturing Partner Mobility Contest’ at the SAP Mobility Partner Conference in 2014.

WALLDORF — SAP SE today announced the winner of the “Manufacturing Partner Mobility Contest,” which took place at a recent SAPinsider 2014 event held in Las Vegas. EIS Incorporated was selected from a panel of industry analyst judges and by audience votes. The company’s demonstrated OpsTrakker manufacturing operations mobile application, which is built on SAP Mobile Platform and compatible with a variety of devices, brings manufacturing executions systems functionality to the user’s hand, providing material consumption reporting, production output reporting, line clearance activities and equipment use logging as part of the suite, reducing paperwork from the shop floor.
In the winning demonstration, EIS revealed the electronic logbook module as it captured information for an operations maintenance log of the calibration of a weigh scale. This demonstrated the efficiency from which manufacturing shop floor workers can digitally track manufacturing execution at the point of work, instead of utilizing paper. The demonstration utilized the mobile device to scan barcode identifying the device, through which the application then checks the operations status of the equipment, guides the maintenance worker through the individual maintenance steps, capturing information including electronic signatures verifying completion of the work.
“OpsTrakker by EIS Incorporated is a tool that manufacturers that are making operations available via mobile should seriously look into,” said Mike Lackey, vice president, Manufacturing Solutions, SAP. “This is an example of innovation which is being delivered by our partner ecosystem extending the value of manufacturing solutions from SAP.”
“We are very proud to be recognized by the judges and the SAP user community that voted for us,” said Rajeev Joshi, vice president, Products & Special Projects, EIS. “OpsTrakker offers a truly mobile experience for operators and others in the value stream. By leveraging SAP Mobile Platform, our solution offers a high-value equipment use log application on any device with seamless connectivity to any backend. The tangible and intangible return on investment to our customers is outstanding.”
